Job Overview
The Accounting Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting and compliance. This role involves managing and mentoring a team of accountants, coordinating month-end and year-end closing processes, and preparing financial statements. The individual will also be tasked with implementing and maintaining internal controls, analyzing financial data to support decision-making, and liaising with auditors and other stakeholders. The primary objective is to ensure the integrity of financial information and contribute to the organization’s financial health and strategic goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Lead and mentor the accounting team to achieve departmental goals.
- Prepare and review financial statements and reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Coordinate and manage the monthend and yearend closing processes.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Manage and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
- Support external audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Monitor and improve internal controls and processes.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable.
- Maintain and update the general ledger and chart of accounts.
- Handle special projects and adhoc financial analysis as required.
Education & Training
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in financial accounting and reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
